The Vuelta a Burgos (2.HC, 13-17/08) means the comback in competition for the second part of the season for a part of the peloton. The Spanish race is for the first time on the calendar of Wanty-Gobert, at the start with high ambitions. Guillaume Martin, 12th in the Tour de France, is already looking forward to the two mountain top finishes, the Picon Blanco (7,8km à 9,3%) on Thursday, and the Lagunas de Neila (11,8km à 5,6%) on the final day on Saturday. He will be supported by Jérôme Baugnies, Bart De Clercq, Thomas Degand, Fabien Doubey, Marco Minnaard and trainee Théo Delacroix, who will ride his first race in our colours. The seven riders will be at the start in Burgos this Tuesday and are directed by Sébastien Demarbaix.
Guillaume Martin :
"Recovery was my priority after the Tour de France. I mainly rested during the criteriums in which I participated. I took on training seriously a couple of days ago and I feel rather good, so I'm travelling to Burgos with ambition. My form is evolving in a good direction after the Tour de France, so let's take advantage of this!"
"There's no doubt, I'll have to find a race rythm back during the first stage, but with fast adapting legs, there's a possibility to do well on the mountainous profiles. I want to perform as good as possible at the end of the season, in order to win as often as possible, why not as from this week! Afterwards, I'll race the Tour du Limousin, the Plouay GP which can suit me, and not the forget the Italian week with races like the Giro della Toscana which already smiled to me."
