Vliegen and Doubey at the test-event in Tokyo

Two Wanty-Gobert riders will defend the colours of their nation at the pre-olympic test-event in Tokyo, this Sunday July 21st. Loïc Vliegen will dress in the Belgian colours at the Belgian National Day for his second selection in the pro category, the first one under guidance of Rik Verbrugghe. Fabien Doubey was selected by the French national team, for his first appearance in blue, white, red on the road. Both will start around the Mount Fuji this Sunday morning (12h local, 5h in Europe).

Loïc Vliegen:

«  I am very happy to be here in the colours of the Belgian team. This pre-olympic race, even if it is not the Olympic Games yet, will give a good idea about the course for next year. I prepared well at altitude in Livigno after the Belgian championships. My shape is good, and this Test-Event will permit me to get the rhythm back towards the Tour de Wallonie. »

Fabien Doubey :
« It is always a special honour to wear the national team jersey, especially for me, because I haven't worn it since I quit cyclocross. It will even be a little culmination, because I'll wear the tricolor for the first time on the road, that makes three disciplines, after having defended it in cyclocross and on the mountainbike. »

« I missed the Tour of Austria, because of a little post-natal problem of my son, but my feeling in training is getting better since the Criterium du Dauphiné. We have a good collective, and we will try our best to give the French team the best possible outcome and to give them the most information possible for the selected riders for the Olympic Games next year. »
