Tour of Guangxi (2): Martin in polkadots

The second stage in the Tour of Guangxi (2.WT, 17-22/10) didn't contain any difficulty. The 152.3 kilometers from the coastal city Beihai towards Qinzhou, more inland, were predestined for a bunch sprint. A three man breakaway tried to challenge the peloton, but the last escapee, Sep Vanmarcke, was caught with 3 kilometer to go. The victory went to Dan Mc Lay in the sprint, with Pascal Ackermann acquiring the leader's jersey. Guillaume Martin takes command in the mountain's classification, thanks to a better position in the provisional general classification than Mullen.

Guillaume Martin:

« I was confused after the first stage yesterday when walking towards the podium. I wanted to collect the mountain's jersey, before I was told I was second in the ranking. But it worked out today. I'm looking forward to the hilly stages later this week. I'm discovering China for the first time and I can only be positive about the nice area and the good race organisation! »

Timothy Dupont:

« I followed my teammates to the back wheel of Pascal Ackermann, however, the final 400 meter were very chaotic. I tried to follow a good line, but never found a gap. I'm happy with the progression since yesterday, but if all goes well, I'm able to get a top 5 this Saturday! »
