Rhône-Alpes (3): Minnaard 8th in queen stage

The 172 kilometer queen stage in the Rhône-Alpes Isère Tour (UCI 2.2) with six categorized climbs was held this Saturday. Not long after the start in Montanay a breakaway of eight riders was formed. During the climbs the group lost six of its members, leaving only two riders ahead. With 60 kilometers to go the rain appeared, which was a sign for eight riders, among whom Marco Minnaard, to join the two leaders. The Australian Harry Sweeny won the stage with a slight advantage over his companions with Marco Minnaard finishing 8th. Thanks to this performance the 30-year old Wanty-Gobert rider moved to 8th place in the provisional general classification.
