Wanty-Groupe Gobert announces its first new signing for next season. The Norwegian Odd Christian Eiking joins the team for two seasons. At the age of 22, Eiking is a promising rider in the peloton. In his first two pro years at FDJ, he repeatedly showed his good legs when the road went up. He finished 21st in the 2017 Tour de Suisse and finished 13th in the recent Tour de Pologne. He won his first race as a pro in Boucles de l'Aulne (1.1) this year. The Norwegian already completed his first Grand Tour with La Vuelta last year. Eiking is enthusiastic about the next year.
Odd Christian Eiking:
"I am excited about joining the Wanty-Groupe Gobert team next year. I am already very much looking forward! I noticed the team during the last years in big international races as Volta Catalunya and of course during the first participation and performances in the recent Tour de France. I am more of a climber-puncher type and I hope to keep improving over the next years in the team. One week races and the one day classics are my preferred type of races. Especially the Ardennes classics should suit me well. My main goal is to win races and achieve good results during the whole season."
Jean-François Bourlart (general manager):
"Eiking is really the style of rider we are looking for: a young talent, ambitious, a winner and a good climber. He will be a major asset around Guillaume Martin in the toughest races."
