Limburg: De Decker sprints to top 10 after an exhausting race

The weather gods played a big role in the Ronde van Limburg (1.1, 10/06) from Tongeren to Beringen. Heavy showers alternated with periods of sun, some cobble sections and climbs caused an exhausting race. There were no breakaways worth mentioning, except for an attempt of a duo during the first race half and a solo from Jasper Philipsen in the final. At the back of the peloton riders dropped one by one. Local rider Jasper Philipsen was caught in the final kilometer and the race ended in an expected sprint with a reduced peloton. Eduard Michel Grosu won, with Wanty-Gobert riders Alfdan De Decker and Timothy Dupont finishing 8th and 12th.
