Britain (3): 3 riders in the top 20 on a steep uphill finish

The riders left Scottish territory after the start of the third stage in the Tour of Britain (2.HC, 07-14/09) in Berwick-upon-Tweed, towards Newcastle-upon-Tyne. A six man breakaway was formed soon on this rainy day, staying ahead of the peloton until the final kilometer. A tough 500 meter uphill finish with gradients up to 20 per cent was awaiting the peloton at the end of the 13.2 kilometer stage. Dylan Groenewegen won the sprint, with Boris Vallée finishing in 11th place. Loïc Vliegen climbs to 7th position in the provisional general classification. Yoann Offredo didn't start because of an injury at his Achilles tendon. The fourth stage connects Gateshead with Kendal in 173.2 kilometer this Tuesday.
