Binche-Chimay-Binche: Pasqualon 15th

Binche-Chimay-Binche: Pasqualon 15th

Binche-Chimay-Binche (1.1, 08/10) was the last race of the Wallonian trilogy and also the Wallonian season closing race. Four riders were the first ones to go into battle between Binche and Chimay in the pouring rain, before being caught with 60 kilometers to go. The bleak weather circumstances and the challenging course favoured the strong riders. An eighteen rider group, with Andrea Pasqualon, battled for the victory in a sprint on the cobbles of the market in Binche, the city where sponsor Wanty is located. Tom Van Asbroeck narrowly defeated his competitors, with Andrea Pasqualon finishing in 15th place. Timothy Dupont won the sprint of the chasing peloton and finished 19th, while Aimé De Gendt's chances came undone because of a flat tire in the final.
