Austria (3): First mountain stage causes no damage

The first mountain stage of the Tour of Austria (2.1, 6-12/7) was held on day four. Two climbs of second category and one of first category had to be covered in the 176.2 kilometer race from Kirschschlag to Forhnleiten. A 50 rider group sprinted for the victory, despite the hard course. Marco Minnaard (21e), Thomas Degand (25e) and Bart De Clercq (37e) finished in this first group.
