Toscane: Chain problem forces Pasqualon back to 9th place

In the 92th edition of the Giro della Toscana (1.1, 16/09),  eight riders broke away at the beginning of the race, but the peloton had everything under control, focusing on a bunch sprint. After 182.9 kilometer, Fernando Gavaria crossed the line first in the streets of Pontedera. Andrea Pasqualon was hindered by a chain problem with 200 meter to go, forcing him back to 9th place.

Andrea Pasqualon:

«  I remarked that Fernando Gaviria was the strongest, so I've chosen to follow him at the approach of the sprint. A perfect position, in the perfect wheel, with a perfect timing, but it was to no avail. Because of a hole in the road, I had a chain problem and lost several positions. I'm very disappointed about this missed chance. I'm in a very good shape, so it's very sad that all work during this race was undone by this little incident. »
